Orlando Eats: Q’Kenan @ International Drive

This was from our Disneyworld trip! View other posts from this trip here: The Hyppo Artisan Ice PopsTeriyaki House, Tako Cheena and El Potro Mexican Restaurant.

When we were in Disneyworld, we lived pretty much on Disney’s land, where everything was rather expensive. Being poor and picky, we looked for an inexpensive place with good food, and found one a short drive away from us! This place was Q’Kenan. It is a teeny little place in a strip mall that you will pass if you’re not looking for it. We passed it once, and we were looking for it. Hah!

Beef Empanadas – $3: Looks burnt, but did not really taste burnt. The insides were good though. Beef was flavorful! This empanada was not like other empanadas I know. The crust, unlike usual empanadas that were somewhat pastry-like, was made of some crispy corn thing, that reminded me of polenta, but was not polenta. Delicious and different! Thumbs up!

Arepas – $6.75: Arepas are stuffed corn cake. I had mine stuffed with pork, white cheese and mayo. Yes, it overflowed like that! Haha!

Arepas – $6.75: Here’s another arepa with braised pork with black beans overflowing. It was good too. Beans packed a flavor punch!
