Brown Sweet Molasses Bread (ala Cheesecake Factory)

Seriously folks, why do people go to the Cheesecake Factory? For me, the only reason is for the brown sweet bread! I mean, the food isn’t bad, but it isn’t all that special either. BUT THE BROWN BREAD IS! So, here’s a recipe for that, so that we don’t have to go to Cheesecake Factory for bread anymore! There’s really nothing better than warm bread and butter on the table, so you might as well make it for yourself, and have lots of it!

Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal + extra for sprinkling
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 1/2 cups white flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

In a mixing bowl, add water, molasses, honey, sugar and yeast, then mix until combined.

Let stand for 10 minutes, then add butter, flour, egg and salt to the liquid.

Knead until a wet dough is formed, then add oatmeal.

Knead everything together, then cover for 30 minutes and let rise.

After rising, fold the dough over and put it in a loaf pan. Sprinkle extra oatmeal on top.

Bake the bread in the oven at 350F for about 40 minutes.
