Hawaii Eats: Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck @ Haleiwa

We were in Oahu on a super quick trip for David and Sarah’s wedding! (Yes, we flew from Boston to Honolulu and were only in Honolulu for four days!!) Here’s where our foodie adventures took us in Oahu! Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, Ted’s Bakery, Matsumoto Shave Ice, Kuru Kuru Sushi, Duke’s Waikiki and Candi’s Cafe.

Carolyn brought us to Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck! We went on a foodie tour on the North Shore of Oahu and had so much other food there, but this was one of the best meals we had on the island. Yummy!

The area around Giovanni’s has lots of fun stores/stalls around it. Good to walk around while waiting for your food!

Mexican Corn – $4: We got this from one of the stalls around Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck! Most delicious mexican corn ever! It is peppered with a lot of different seasonings, mayo and parmesan. I highly recommend this. Best Mexican corn you’ll get, especially for $4! I would have had 2 more if not for the price!

You order, then you wait around and eat at one of these picnic tables under a tent! The wait is really long, and the lines are all sorts of insane with people just standing around waiting for their orders. Keep an ear out for your order number, or it’ll be gone!

Here’s the main ‘drink’s stall around Giovanni’s. Very expensive drinks, but they were decent! I think smoothies ran around $5 per cup!

Shrimp Scampi – $13: So so so so good! As recommended by Carolyn, we got this with extra garlic on the rice. I think this was one of the best foods we had all trip! Big plump shrimp, fried with butter and garlic. What else do you want or need?? Also, 12 shrimps per order. You can get a half order as well, but why bother, you’ll need all 12, or more!

The “No Refunds” Spicy Shrimp – $13: J got the spicy version. It was very very very spicy, and he had a very very hard time downing everything. I can’t tell you if it’s good or bad because the one shrimp I had burned my mouth pretty badly. Proceed with caution!
