We were in Oahu on a super quick trip for David and Sarah’s wedding! (Yes, we flew from Boston to Honolulu and were only in Honolulu for four days!!) Here’s where our foodie adventures took us in Oahu! Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, Ted’s Bakery, Matsumoto Shave Ice, Kuru Kuru Sushi, Duke’s Waikiki and Candi’s Cafe.
Everyone’s heard of Matsumoto Shave Ice (the grammatical inaccuracies are actually accurate) right? Yes, it’s the famous Hawaiian shave ice (not shaved!) stall that’s actually it’s own little teeny weeny minimart. Yes, we had a hard time finding it because we were expecting an ice or ice cream shop, but it was actually a teeny counter inside a minimart. Plus, there was lots of construction going around when we were there which might have confused us. What a wonderful and fun place to get some shade and a cool snack. Yummy and inexpensive–I recommend!
Shave (note, it’s not shaved ice, even those ‘shaved’ is grammatically correct!) ice and all it’s flavors!
Matsumoto’s also sells pancake mix? Who knew!
That’s how big our blob of shave ice was. Definitely a good deal and a yummy snack on a hot hot hot day!
Our large shave ice with ice cream ($3.50) in Hawaiian flavor. We added 30c for the cup holder just in case we lost any ice to the ground! Security is important!
Our very colorful and flavorful shave ice. Yummy! The flavors blended so well together. Best shave ice ever!!
